Zija Caribbean Cruise - Coming home

Our shipped docked back into San Juan, Puerto Rico early on Sunday morning. We were off the ship by 9am and had a whole day before our flight left at 3:30pm. We all 12 of us decided to go to the airport and drop off our luggage and then hop on the big van and tour the city.

Our first stop was the old fort in old San Juan.

Reading the information about the old fort.

A long defensive wall was built around the whole half of the island.

In one of the lookout bunkers.

Another fort at the other end of the coast line.

This is how the soldiers slept.

Ready to blast the cannon.

After the fort, we walked along the streets in Old San Juan. What a beautiful place.

The little balconies were so colorful with beautiful flowers on them.

Our van driver recommended us to go eat lunch at Cafe Puerto Rico. Rod ordered the seafood Mofongo. So delicious.

Our group almost filled up the whole restaurant.

Our table waiting for lunch.

When we were killing time before the restaurant opened at noon, Rod, Alex and I walked by this window and had to stop. You can never pass by a nice pastry window. We went in, and had some of these beauties before lunch. Then went to tell the rest of the group about Cafeteria Mallorca. After lunch we brought the whole group there where they all bought boxes of pastries for dessert.

The group eating their pastries outside the Cafeteria...and getting attacked by pigeons.

After lunch we headed back to the airport. Our flight left at 3:30pm and we were home at 1am on Monday morning.

What a trip. So many memories and so many new friendships. Hope to see everyone there again next year.

Now we get ready for the Alaskan cruise which is this Sunday, another 7 days. And another 10 lbs.
