Lakeridge vs. Provo 1/28/10

I feel like a broken record. We lost to Provo 31-44 even though it wasn't a blood bath like I thought it would be. We lost it during the 4th quarter.

2 more games to go and then the single elimination tournament next week. Can't wait for this disappointing season to be over.

Cultured Saturday

Winter semester started for Alex a few weeks ago and looking at his classes, I was delighted that he didn't have art. Why, you ask? Because his teacher requires 18 hours of out-of-class experiences that will have to include concerts, plays etc. etc. I have done this before with him and it is exhausting trying to find concerts and plays etc. etc. So, first day of school after the previous term ended, Alex texted me and said that he needs to drop a class and add a new class. Guess what he chose? No, not ballroom dance. That's the one he dropped. He said that he couldn't take it at ballroom dance class anymore because for sure he would be paired up with a girl whose breath smelled like cheese and crackers. Unfortunately he was talking from previous experience. Body odor was the other deciding factor as well. In my book those three things are a lethal combination.

Yes, he chose art. I have nothing against art. I love art myself. It is the 18 hours that I have a problem with. So, after Alex had added his art class, I came back to work and started scanning all the possible venues for activities that would add up to 18 hours this term. There are also 2 TERMS IN THIS SEMESTER. So, when he has completed 18 hours this term, he will have another 18 to do.

We will be totally cultured this spring. And I'm not talking about the yogurt kind culture.

The first activity I chose was at the Hale Center Theater in SLC this past Saturday. A fun play called "The Importance of Being Earnest". It is Oscar Wilde's play and very, very funny. It was like watching a modern day sit-com that was written in the 1900s.

Next activities: Shanghai Circus, Living Legends, Young Ambassadors and Brian Regan. The only one that Alex is looking forward to is Brian Regan.

Lakeridge vs. Lehi 1/7/10

Another game that I didn't attend. We lost this one by 12 points. Alex played the whole 4th quarter and got that chipped tooth as a souvenir.

Lakeridge vs. East 1/5/10

I wasn't there, but I know that we WON 58-55.

"The Best Thing that has Happened to Me"

says Alex. No, not about the chipped tooth (during basketball game yesterday) that was being filled at the dentist office this morning but the happy gas that he was sucking in.

Eternal Friendships

This morning was a sad day for us because the Sohkanen family left to go home back to Finland. We have so enjoyed having them at our house these past two weeks. They are such great people and friends. I believe we made eternal friendships with all of them.
