Zija Caribbean Cruise - Day 6 - Curaçao

Trip was fast coming to an end but not before we got to visit Willemstad, Curaçao. According to the history Curaçao was the richest island in the Caribbean because oil was found in 1920. Simply put, it was a beautiful island that I wouldn't mind visiting again.

Fresh off the ship and ready to walk (which Alex hates)

After meandering through this beautiful and colorful city and finding our Christmas ornament, we got hungry. I had researched this island and wanted to eat where the locals ate. We found "the Old Market" which was just an indoor market place, where one side had all the food vendors and the other side was full of tables and chairs. We walked through the whole place and many vendors wanted us to eat their food but we decided to eat at a place where the longest line was. Isn't that typically the best sign? Jayson and Jenni said that they would rather starve than eat there, so they headed to McDonalds. We sat down with the locals and started chatting with them and asking what was the best food there.

"Marisko" or Seafood rice. So yummy. It looked like paella.

This was Conch and rice. So delicious. We also ordered some gumbo, but it wasn't very spicy which we are used to eating when Rod makes it. It was ok.

The Royal Maritime days were there that weekend so we got to watch some of the shows that the marines and navy put on. Here a guy (hopefully not the pilot) is hanging off a rope and doing maneveurs.

We were still on our balcony when the submarine came in from the ocean. Our taxi driver (the meanest lady ever) told us that they were expecting 11 warships the next day. That would have been a great thing to see.

Aren't these houses beautiful?

After walking through the city, we hopped on a taxi and went to the Mambo beach where the snorkeling was the best.

Rod getting the snorkeling gear ready. He took Jayson and Jenni. Alex and I stayed on the beach chairs. Can't get enough of that sun.

Mambo beach. So beautiful and warm

Sun worshippers on the Mambo beach.

A floating deck that was full of Zija people.

Alex is still working on his tan.

I think Alex totally enjoys himself.

Then it was back to the ship and the second formal dinner.

The hords of people walking to the dining room.

Handsome Joe and John Davis and Alex. Good old friends. They had so much fun on this trip.

Linda and Ken Brailsford.

Ryan and Becky Palmer.

We clean up pretty well.

Amy and Robbie Davis from Kentucky. Great friends.

Jenni and Jayson in their best. For some reason Jayson said to me at the start of the dinner:"Let me introduce you Grandma Jorgensen". He totally thought that Jenni looked like a grandma in this dress. The man should not be asked an opinion about fashion. Clearly he doesn't see how gorgeous Jenni was that evening.

Yes, I wore sequin.

Our family with Alex trying to use his best "smolder" look. I think it is working.

Harrisons and us before our formal picture.
