Saturday - 5K Cooper's Run and Stewart Falls

8 o'clock came really early on Saturday morning when Kelli and I had to be at the "Start" line for the Cooper's 5K Run. Actually the run didn't start until 9am but we wanted to be there to warm up (by sitting on the curb) and to stretch (by sitting on the curb) so we wouldn't get injured during the run. Whitney's family got there a little before 9am ready to bike and run.

The Cooper's Run was meant to pay tribute to the firemen, EMS and police officers who came to help the Kofford family a year ago when Cooper past away at age 4 when he laid down on their drive way to warm up after a swim in the swimming pool and Cooper's aunt backed right over him in her big SUV. He died instantly.

We were told that there were 650 pre-registered runners/bikers so the turn-out was great. This was also a charity event where all the monies went to the Learning Dynamics School that Cooper was going to attend last fall. This money will pay for several students' tuition where otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford it.

Kendall, Megan, Kelli, Elle and Whitney are ready to run/bike.

Quinn and Jana and their family are welcoming all to the 5K run.

Runners are ready to go.

My 1st mile was about 15 minutes. What happened to 6 minute mile? Not me. I ran/walked.

As you can see, I missed the MILE 2 because Rod called me from Japan right in the middle of the run, and I couldn't multi-task by taking a photo, talking on the phone and walking. It would have been too much, even for me.

Cooper's house. His pictures were all over towards the finish line with pictures of the firemen, EMS and cops' who came to help a year ago. I don't think there was one dry eye when we ran past the house.

Megan biked and Kendall ran the 5K. Here happily sucking on an Otter Pop (Cooper's favorite snack)

Kelli, 38 minutes, me 46 minutes. Quite pathetic if you ask me. Even a really big woman beat me.

McKenna got hosed off at the finish line by the firemen.

Whitney biked the 5K three times.

McKenna and little Ren after the run.

Our family. All finished and happy.

Hunter sang her three songs that she had written. She is fabulous and a future super star.

After the 5K, Kelli and I hiked to the Stewart Falls, which is up from Sundance on the side of the Timpanogos mountain. Such a gorgeous hike.

I'm on the way to the Falls. In the background is the Sundance ski resort. What a view!

The hike was definitely worth it. Such a beautiful fall.

Kelli and I made it.

Yes, I was super sore on Sunday.
