We left Jyväskylä at 6:10am and flew to Helsinki. Switched planes and flew to London. We had only an hour to switch terminals and get our bags and without our JFK plane being 2 hours late, we wouldn't have made it. When we got to JFK, we had 2 hours to switch terminals and get our bags and we almost didn't make it to our final plane. We arrived home around 7pm with Jake's dad waiting for us at the airport.
And this is what we found when we got home. YES! My Plumeria was BLOOMING!!! I brought the plant from Kauai 5 years ago and I have been nursing the stick for years and of course when we were gone, it started blooming. It is like I missed my baby's first steps. I'm so overjoyed, you can't even believe. My Plumeria smells amazing and I couldn't be happier. It is good to be home.

They are beautiful and they do smell wonderful. I'm envious. My "stick" grew leaves but never bloomed. So much for trying to bring Hawaii home with you.
Wow, what an awesome vacation. As I was sitting here reading everything I was telling Peter that I wanted to go to Finland someday and he pointed out that what makes your trip so much fun are all the people that you got to see as well as being home in Finland. What a great two weeks, thanks for sharing it all with us.
Here's a random question. I've been reading about masonry heaters (basically really efficient fireplaces) that are supposedly huge in Finland. Do you have any experience with them or an opinion?
Lots of love,
Kristy
Okay, I've read all about your vacation over the past few weeks - and girl - you know how to party! I loved it all! What a fabulous and memorable trip!
I am still growing a plumeria stick. Your plant gives me hope. Only three more years to go ...
