Meet Helga

Helga, the German boxer on steroids, came to the Young Women in Excellence program last night to fight against Chloe, "the Knock Out" Isaak. Sure enough, during the first round, Helga lost a couple of teeth when K-O hit her so hard. During the second round, Helga was knocked out, and K-O was declared a winner. Sadly, Helga had to return home without her championship belt, once again.

Weekend Education

These are the things I learned this past weekend:

1) People eat double-toasted toast. I didn't know such a thing existed.

2) Navajo nation has their own president. First of all, I didn't know there was a Navajo nation. Second of all, I didn't know there was a president. His name is Dr. Joe Shirley, Jr. I now know that we will be driving through the Navajo nation on the way to New Mexico.

3) There is a great view from our roof toward the Timpanogos Mountain.

4) I really like 100 Grand chocolate bar.

5) When you have enough energy, you can make a costume for YW in Excellence in 1/2 hour. Sew like the wind, woman!

6) There is a whistling language in Kuskoy, Turkey.

7) I have lost 7 lbs since I started my new medication (3 weeks). YAY for me!

The Audacity of Denial

I went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner last night with my Finnish friends, Riikka and Terhi. At the end of the meal, I denied myself the following:

This...

And this...

Well, this is a no-brainer...I don't like chocolate desserts

But this one was hard. I still said "no".
I was strong and walked away from the restaurant with joy in my heart and in my stomach.

Fortune cookie

Have you ever had a moment when you crack open a fortune cookie in a group of people and somebody else has the same forture? This has never happened to me until the other night when we were having dinner at Pei Wei at Ft. Union. I opened mine, and Alex opened his. We shared the same fortune. Does this mean that it is true for both of us now? I would like to think that, especially what the fortune says. Is it "like mother, like son"?

5:30pm on Monday evening

Jorge asked me to take a picture at 5:30pm last night because it was so dark already. He has never experienced such darkness so early in the day. And it will get even darker, earlier.

The Mop comes off

Both boys had their hair cut appointment today. It was about time!

Disco Party at the Convention

We had a fun Disco party on Saturday night at the convention.

Alex "the Afro Man" is getting ready for the party.

Jorge, the complete man, also getting ready.

Then to the PARTY:

Darrell doing the splits and walking away acting like he wasn't in pain.

The Disco Pimp and his Hot Mama.

Daniel Singer and the "Chief" getting down to boogie all night.

The Afro Man livened up the party. He received many compliments on his chest hair and his "chops".

Afro Man and the Handsome Spaniard.

The makers of the whole convention: Whitney and Rana.

At the end of the the night, very tired Disco King and Queen and their Afro Man.
