So, this past weekend when we were in Payson at Alex's basketball tournament, we had some time between the games to get the most disgusting dinner, ever (Family Tree Restaurant in Santaquin. Who serves canned green beans at a restaurant??? Note to self: Never again) and to go look at the llamas at the Krishna temple in Salem.
The look on Rod's face says it all. It is llama love.
True happiness.
"You should see their eyes, they are so beautiful", says Rod. I had to go closer and sure enough, I could get lost in those eyes. Just don't spit on me, you filthy animal!

That smile shows real happiness!
Larry and I are LAUGHING at your comment about the Family Tree Restaurant! You know we used to live in Santaquin, right? Everyone we met who found out we lived in Santaquin would say, "OH! I LOVE the Family Tree Restaurant!" We went there once and were very much less than impressed. I did like their huge scones and honeybutter until one of my MiaMaids who worked there told me that they have flies all over the food in the kitchen.
And that ended that.
I don't know of any locals who eat there.
Oh, and so glad Rod could bond with the llama. We found out on our Safari tour that the llamas don't spit saliva they spit stomach bile and it smells worse than skunk and is as hard to get out. Once one llama spits the other llamas smell it and they all come running and they spit at the thing/offender.
So, either the Llama likes you, or they took out the spitting mechanism. Why do they spit? Don't you have to offend them in order for them to do it? Or is it when they feel like they are in danger? Guess we need to watch more Disney movies. It is amazing the things you can learn by watching movies.
According to the guy at the Wildlife Education Center llamas only spit when they are angry, feel they are in danger, or someone is messing with their baby. Pretty much, the only time I spit, too.
I didn't realize Rod had such a love affair with llamas. We'll definitely have to get him up to Bear Lake next year when we move back and he can commune with the Crane llamas as long as he wants to. :) Kristy
