Zija Alaska Cruise - Ketchikan

We arrived in Ketchikan, our first port, on Tuesday morning. We had booked zip lining for our excursion in the late morning so we had some time to tour the city before we headed to the zip lining adventure.
Alex having breakfast on the ship before we headed out.

Alex on the Ketchikan boardwalk.

Bustling city of Ketchikan.

The cruise terminal.

Beautiful mountains of Ketchikan

There's candy and some funny shorts for Alex's friends in the blue bag.

Zip line starting point.

Rod ad Alex are all harnessed up and ready to go super fast. Hopefully the senior group, yes, they were all over 70 years old, don't slow us down.

That helmet smelled really bad, not as bad as the helmets we wore in St. Kitts last summer.

Alex and I are ready to zip line.

Another pose with Alex

What the heck is going on with my hair? And Rod and Alex didn't say a word. Nice.

This moss or lichen only grows where there is 98% pure air. I was sucking in the air like my life depended on it. Well, I guess my life depends on oxygen, actually.

"And now you cross this rickety bridge"

River runs through it.

Rod and Alex are crossing the bridge. Of course they sent me in first.

From one platform to the next.

Rod going down the line.

Rod and Alex looking for some mountain goats, bears, bald eagles, seals or whatever might be lurking in the forrest and only Rod is able to see them.

Such an unbelievable scenery.

Bald eagles were flying all over like our seagulls in Utah. I wonder if the locals yawn every time they see a bald eagle. Such a common thing.

Ashlyn was setting Alex for another zip line ride.

Alex jumped off every time to get more speed.

Rod is rappelling down. He asked to go commando and Ashlyn thought he wanted to slip down the rope naked. Rod had to explain:"NO! Face first and upside down".

Rod is still negotiating the commando style

270 foot slide. Alex went down so fast and screamed like a little school girl. I think I pulled my diaphragm.

I wish but we had to move on.

We medaled in Zip Lining!

Alex is making sure the medal is real metal and not licorice.

Looks beautiful.

Back on board.

Rod and Alex and Star Princess

Rod and I and Star Princess

I think Alex's bed was too short.

Another dinner. Urkel style.

Our science professor and really stylish boy.

Feed me, Star Princess. I can't go home without extra 5 lbs.

The center Piazza.
