Independence Day Weekend

Our Independence weekend was very relaxing and fun.
On Friday mid day I received a phone call that Rod had gone skiing to Snowbird (first time since the accident in March) and was not hurt and was on his way to go golfing and then water-skiing. He called this 3 event day "Trifecta". Yes, it was July 1st and he was snowskiing.

Katie picked up Alex and was headed up to their cabin with Carsen. I picked up dinner and met Rod around 5:30 and drove up to the cabin with him to spend an evening there.

After dinner we decided to go play baseball.

Setting up the baseball field.

Alex is batting.

I was pitching and was told to do it underhand.

Rod at the bat.

Katie is ready to do a home run.

I was at the bat when I demanded that I should be playing baseball the Finnish way.

So Carsen came to pitch next to me. I think I hit 3 balls.

Alex is in his fancy pants...all the way to the armpits.

On Saturday, the men went golfing at South Mountain and the ladies headed to Park City to the outlet stores for some heavy shopping.

After the men were done, they met us at Park City and we went to the Alpine Slide area where Kelli, Elle and Alex did some zip-lining.

Whitney and Craig waited in the shade.

Sunday morning Alex and I headed back to the cabin while Rod and Kelli went to church. Today was Carsen's 15th birthday. Happy birthday Carsen!

Later in the afternoon, we took a little walk to the lake.

Katie and Carsen.

Katie and Steve.

Their cabin is # 9.

Katie, Steve and Carsen (and a set of extra legs behind them. Yes, Alex's)

Just an incredible amount of water is coming down from the mountains, flooding roads and filling reservoirs.

Beautiful scenery.

Alex jumped over the guard rail and nicked himself on the knee.

Katie was people-watching and almost tripped over a pile of horse shit.

What a beautiful scenery, don't you think?

Then it was time for dinner and birthday celebration.

Maya is wearing ribbons from Carsen's gifts.

We gave Carsen a new pillow for his birthday.

Carsen is blowing out the "candle" on his ice-cream cake (it was actually a match because Katie forgot the candles).

Happy 15th birthday Carsen! It was nice to celebrate it with you.
