Happy Birthday, America

We will start the Independence Day celebration with a tribute to the Scottish Heritage, or as Rod calls the bag-pipe music-"a sure way to cry".

Elle and Alex ready to watch the parade on University Avenue in Provo. Are they sleeping?

Our friends, Petri, Ritva and Minna came all the way from Finland to watch the parade. They loved it.

Rod and Whitney in their seats watching the parade.

Pirates of the Caribbean float

After the parade, one of our neighbors set up a slip and slide in our park, and here are Samuli and Alex right after slipping and sliding down the hill on the piece of plastic. They had so much fun, and it was FREE.

Alex showing all how to slip and slide down the hill. Alex was so fast.. must be all the practice over the years.

How much fun would my kids have on that slip and slide. Holy cow! That is dang fun.

I am jealous that you got to go to Provo's parade. Miss those days. How early did you have to be there to get a spot?

I agree with Rod on the bagpipes - only the thing that gets me even more is the jets' fly-by. Oooh, chills!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys a good parade!
