34 Hungry People for Dinner

I found out last night that 1 crock pot and 1 stock pot full of White Bean Chicken Chili will feed about 40 people. Many of you know that Rod is serving at a BYU ward as a 2nd couselor in the bishopric, so every once in a while we get to host a Family Home Evening with some of the students from his ward. They are so incredible. So on the ball in every way. Alex gave a lesson on Prayer which was excellent. Then the evening concluded with "20 questions". Those questions were directed at Rod and I. So, again, Rod told the story of how we met, with my color-commentary, which was hilarious, of course. One question was "if a walrus came to your door with a plate of cookies, what would you say?" My answer was:"ALEX! The door's for you".

Such a fun night with a fun group of people. Just don't ask me to name any of them.

Luckily the students are used to sitting on the floor. Unfortunately I don't have seating for 40.

We Have a Player

After 4 days of basketball tryouts, Alex made the Mountain View Sophomore Basketball team last night.

Now we get to go to ALL of his games and root him on.

Congrats Alex! That's awesome.

24 Years Today...

I married the love of my life. Happy Anniversary Rod. I love you more than ever. Next year we will celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.

Feasting on Pork Belly, Barabundi and Kobe Short Ribs at the Glidretind restaurant at Stein Eriksen Lodge on Friday night.

The End is Near

Alex's room remodel is nearing the end. It has been, what, 6 months since we started it. You would think that there are gold chips and diamonds carefully embedded into the crown moulding with that much time doing the remodel, but no. It is simple laziness that has caused the delay.

Last night we took the tape off the trim and Rod installed the new lights. We are now ready for the new furniture. Rod's going out of town on Monday for a week, so it will be another week or so before this room will be finished.

Football Blow Out

Last Friday was Mountain View-Orem High School rivalry football game. As predicted, Mountain View blew Orem out by winning the game 33-0. Yay Mountain View!

Sunday, Sunday...the Fun is Over

Sunday came and realization with it that the fun would be soon over. I wasn't ready for it. I wanted another week of nothingness.

Garden of Eden

We woke up to a beautiful day with gorgeous views. Our plan was to do the following:

Nothing, then nothing, and after that nothing. That sounds like a perfect plan.


Katie's brother's cabin in Eden. It is a gorgeous cabin and we are so happy to spend the whole entire weekend here doing...nothing.


As it turned out, Rod took the boys golfing to a nearby golf course, so Katie and I went for a nice morning/afternoon walk around the valley. There is no bad view here.


Katie and I enjoying our leisurely walk. I think we walked about 3 miles. It was a lovely clear day with temperatures in the 70s.

So what we ended up doing today was:

Breakfast
Quick run to get some peach rings and Diet Coke for Rod
Walk
Sitting outside in the sun.
Sitting in the hot tub for a couple of hours with Katie
Dinner
Movies/games

Just a perfect first day. I think I will finish it up with a book. Tomorrow the plan is as it was this morning. A whole lot of nothing.

Where There is Smoke, There is Fire

Last night we drove to our friends' cabin up in Pineview Reservoir. This was going to be a long weekend for us that was filled with nothing but pure relaxation. Of course we arrived during my birthday, so we had to celebrate it with a nice dinner and cake and ice cream. I had told Katie that if she will bring the candles, I will bring the cake. She also wanted to make dinner so before we could eat the cake, we had to have dinner.

After dinner, the candle lighting started. All 47 of them. The results were:

-I was little chilly so I was able to warm up by the fire.
-by the time the last candle was lit, the first ones had burned down
-the frosting melted off the cake.
-the candle wax covered the frosting.


That's a nice fire to warm up by.


Ready to blow out the candles before they burn everything.

Seriously? I am behind the smoke.
