Homecoming 2012

Homecoming Dance was coming up and Alex and Aldo had to decide who to invite. Alex was dating Emily so the natural thing was to invite her. Aldo had a harder time because he was new in school and really didn't know a lot of girls.  Alex suggested for him to invite Lauren Peery.

Alex's invitation was basically a brick and balloons with the note inside. The trick was to take the balloons to Emily's house and put a super long string to the balloons so they would go really far up. The note said to pull down the balloons. She then popped the balloons to find the note that said "look under the brick" which happened to be right next to where she was standing. Under the brick there was another note that asked Emily to the homecoming dance.

Aldo's invitation to Lauren was a Spongebob piñata and a note and candy inside asking her to Homecoming.

Then the boys waited for answers from the girls.

Alex received his answer from Emily one night.
The answer was a treasure hunt.

"To discover my answer
If I'll be your date,
Look under the swings
to find out your fate"

"You're getting closer,
but there's still more,
Walk a few steps
to the Heaton's door."

"Now go to the place
where you left that brick,
Look underneath and see
if that does the trick."

"Now make your way
to a place where we swim,
My answer MIGHT be there,
but the chances are slim."

"My answer isn't here
but you're nearly done,
Return to the place
where this hunt begun.
(I mean began..)."

While Alex was finding the notes, Emily came in and put her final treasure hunt note on his bed with balloons.

"YES
Even though you laid in poo,
I'm still excited to go with you!"
Emily

When Alex delivered his invitation, he ran to the bushes to watch Emily pull down the balloons but what he didn't notice is that he landed in the bushes on some dog poop.

Next came Aldo's answer from Lauren

"HOLA!
I'd be "SODA -ligted
to go to
homecoming with you"

Aldo receiving his answer.

Then it was time to call Jana for the corsages.

Auntie visit to see Caleb - August 22, 2012

Now that the boys were in school, I had some "me time" to go see Caleb up in Logan.

Caleb was sleeping

Gas or bad dream?

Yawn! This company is boring!

Sleeping one eye open and smiling. Always on the look-out

Mom and son.

Sleeping again.

Thanks Liz for a wonderful chat and visit

Master bedroom has new plantation shutters

During the remodel we also replaced all the windows in the whole house. Now that the remodel was finished, it was time to put some kind of blinds or shutters in the master bedroom windows, or have a nice free nightly show for everyone who happened to pass by our house to see.

We decided to order plantation shutters. It took five weeks to get them.

In the mean time, we had mattresses and moving boxes in the windows blocking the view from the street.  So not white trashy.

Greg comes for a visit - August 21, 2012

Greg came for a quick visit. It was a sad visit because Kristine was not with him. He shared with us that  Kristine is not in good shape and it was time to face the reality of her not getting better. For a while there was some hope that new cancer drugs had been approved and Kristine was one of the patients who was approved to start on the new drugs. Greg told us that Kristine was supposed to get stronger so she can start on those drugs.
I started planning my trip to Spokane in November so I can spend some time with Kristine.

Alex is almost the same height as Greg, but not quite

Four years ago Aldo's older brother Jorge was an exchange student for a year at our house from Cuernavaca, Mexico. Now it was time to welcome Aldo to spend a year playing tennis and learning English. Aldo and his mother Mari arrived about 10 days before school started.  Aldo would be a senior at Mountain View High School.
Alex got a new brother.
