Went To See About a Girl

*Disclaimer - We parents sometimes do silly or stupid things that greatly benefit our off-spring.

Last May when we were on our Caribbean cruise, we met Brittany, 24 who is a cousin of Courtney, 16. Brittany hung out during dinner times with the boys and got to know Alex. When Brittany went home, she spoke to her cousin Courtney about Alex and how great he is and she needs to get to know him. So Alex and Courtney started facebooking and texting, that led to a "relationship" on Facebook. They had never met but were now "dating".

Alex wanted to go see Courtney and he tried to find a way to go to Kentucky.

What we parents wouldn't do for our kids, right? RIGHT?

So...

Last Thursday night Alex and I flew to Cincinnati, OH on our way to Albany, Kentucky. Zija had a convention in Cincinnati last weekend so we bunked with Rod for the night. On Friday morning Alex and I drove about 3 hours to Albany, KY to Robbie and Amy Davis' house so we can hang out with Amy, Joe and John for the weekend. Robbie was at the Zija convention.

Courtney is from Somerset, KY, about an hour north from Albany. On Friday evening Brittany drove Courtney to the Davis' and Alex and Courtney met for the first time. The first meeting was awkward to say the least. There was a hug and then separation. I thought this "relationship" is not going to live past the internet. The whole evening seemed like Alex wasn't sure how to talk to Courtney or vice versa.

Towards the end of the night, they were snuggling on the couch.

Labor Day at Deer Creek

We spent the Labor Day with the Davis family at Deer Creek. Forecast for the day was menacing but the day turned out to be little chilly and somewhat sprinkly, yet towards the end of the day the sun came out and we all got burned.

The "boys" left at 6am to put the boat in and claim our pavillion. Us women and others showed up around 9:30am and later.

I think Alex means business. He is ready to surf. Carsen is probably still thinking about it.

Oh yeah. They are ready to go.

Carsen is number 1 and Alex will punch you out.

Carsen had to leave in the morning to go to the zoo with his family.

Our rental boat for the day. Here Kendall is helping Alex to bring in the boat to the shore so Carsen can get out.

Alex surfing with a sail boat.

Alex is a pro at surfing. He was hoping that he could throw the rope away but the boat made a weird wake so it wasn't possible.

Surfing...

Rod's turn to get in the water. I think he is chilled before getting in.

Rod's surfing and so focused.

It wasn't THAT cold. I guess a bald head gets cold easily.

Carsen wakeboarding. He did great.

Chris wakeboarding. He was like an old pro.

Chris and his girlfriend April. Cute couple.

Kelli is ready to wakeboard. She got up but couldn't hold on. Maybe next time.

Golfing with a Goat

Golf Setting: Lake Las Vegas
Time: Thursday morning/afternoon.
Temperature: 110 F (43 C).
Players: Rod and David (Lead Zija distributor from Toronto) and a mountain goat? What?

Beautiful, hot and arid Lake Las Vegas

The mountain goat that was breathing heavily, only 15 feet away, and almost charged Rod and David. I think he just wanted to play with the guys.

Rod is happiest when golfing. I must ask, though, a black shirt in 110 F weather? Seriously, was this the smartest choice for a shirt color?

Rod and David. At least David had a better idea for a shirt color.
