Zija Caribbean Cruise - Day 1

We traveled most of the day on Saturday, May 14th through Atlanta and then onto San Juan, Puerto Rico. We arrived at the Marriott hotel around 10:30pm. The hotel lobby was rocking or should I say salsaing and I wanted to dance. Alex kept telling me to stop dancing. He was clearly embarrased by his mother. Rod wouldn't go dancing with me. So we decided to sit in the lobby and eat some appetizers and then go to bed. A lot of Zija people had arrived also and they were having a great time.

Sunday morning came and I wanted to go walk on the beach. It was supposed to be rainy, but "Sunny Marj" had arrived, so it was a gorgeous sunny and hot morning.

A view to the pool from our hotel window.

Early morning on the beach.

My face says it all. So happy to be in the sun and surf.

While we walked on the beach, Alex went and got some sun on by the pool.

Then it was time to get onto the ship. This time we cruised with Royal Caribbean.

We are all done with the check-in, and we are ready to go see the ship.

Amazing fruit carvings welcomed us on board in the Windjammer Cafe (our breakfast restaurant every morning).

We had a nice lunch while we waited to get into our cabins.

"Puccini Suite", Owner's Suite. Our home for the next 7 days.

The suite was HUGE!

Basketball and More Basketball

Spring Fling basketball continues. Alex's JV team has played...I don't know how many games. Some were lost, some were won. But the most amazing thing is that Alex has become a great player, not that he wasn't before, but he wasn't really given a chance. He can't be stopped when he shoots the three-pointers. He is starting the games now and it has become such a huge confidence booster for him. He couldn't be happier.

Mountain View vs. Maple Mountain on Monday night. Alex scored 24 points with 6, that's SIX, 3-pointers.

The boy is on fire.

Easter Sunday

A time to reflect on Jesus' atoning sacrifice.

Easter chick pushed out a mighty chocolate egg for Alex on Sunday morning.

After breakfast and before church we drove up to Cooper's grave to see the new headstone. What a beautiful tribute to the sweet little boy who passed too early almost 2 years ago. So many people still miss him.

Cooper's beautiful headstone.

A quiet moment of reflection on the cemetery for Rod and Alex.

Dinner with Munch and Mican

Saturday night we went to get sushi with our old friends Chris (Munch) and his wife Mican. We hadn't seen them for a couple of years so it was great to get together and chat for a while.

Old college buddies, Chris and Rod. Chris used to baby-sit Alex in a hallway at BYU when Rod was at class. What a great friend.

Mican and Chris.

Rod and Chris are now planning a heli-skiing trip to Canada next winter. Mican and I decided to go shopping in Rome while the boys are skiing. I say YES!

Day 5 of Spring Break: Going Home

Sunday morning came too early. We didn't want to leave. We had so much fun with the Peterson's. Thank you guys. We love you.

Kristian's mom, Judy. It was so fun to visit with her. We hadn't seen her for years.

Stop over at the Yoko Sushi, all-you-can-eat sushi in Las Vegas. I think we ate it all. It is always so good. Wish they made some of those dishes here in Orem.

Day 4 of Spring Break: Beach, Sand, Sun

On Saturday morning we packed our cars and headed for the beach. Happy Day!

First stop was the Nessy Burger.

Carsen, Alex, Evy and Fischer trying to decide if they would go with Nessy Burger or Nessy Burger. They went with Nessy Burger.

I think this guy should have chosen the salad.

Dude! Push away from the table.

Best burgers they have ever had!

Evy is stuffing her face too.
